Quick Guide to Using an AED
An AED, or Automated External Defibrillator, is very easy to use. All you need to do is follow a few simple steps.
Step 1: Turn on the AED using the power button
Step 2: Peel off the electrode pads and place them on the person's body; one right below the collarbone on the right side of the chest, the other below the left chest.
Step 3: The AED will automatically analyse the person's heart rhythm. Ensure that no one is touching the person, yourself included.
Step 4: If the AED advices delivering a shock, ensure everyone is clear of the person and press the shock button. If no shock is required, perform CPR until emergencu merdical services arrive.
Most AEDs comes with an audio prompt, so do follow the instructions carefully t ensure that you're using the defibrillator correctly.
